Leadership vs Responsibilities

Hi everyone!

Today I'm writing about a situation that I had to face today evening. First of all, I will pass you a brief background idea related to the story I'm going to share below. In my uni I got a group assignment to complete and I had to group-up with few of my batch mates to work on this project. One of us was appointed as the group leader and we started our work on this project. But after a few days, I realized that I am the one who's doing the most of the work of the project while others don't contribute or even have an interest in completing the project properly. Even our group leader was not doing his role as the leader taking responsibility. He didn't even talk about the assignment until we reach the last few days before the submission due date.

Leadership vs Responsibilities - infotechd.lifeSo today was the final report submission due date. And I was the one who had to submit the report after doing more than half of the project work. Our group leader was there in the uni but he didn't even bother to contact me and ask whether everything is Okay at least. So I had to finalize the final project and submit it. Even some of the documents were sent to me in the last two hours by the other members of the group. So withing that small time I did the report soon and submitted it. Still, our group leader is missing. And then later that evening I was on the way to home from Uni and my group leader also joined the ride as I was taking the public transport service of the uni. So he came near me and asked me whether I submitted the report and asked a few things related to that. In the report, there were some parts I couldn't complete properly as it got late for some of the group members to send the relevant documents. But somehow I managed to complete the report and submitted.

After asking about the submission, our group leader was silent for a few minutes and suddenly started talking. It was not just simply talking. More likely, he was blaming me for not completing the report properly. He was saying that if I had the intention to complete the report properly and wanted to earn good marks I should have done the work nicely and do the submission. And he said that I should have taken the responsibility of completing the report, but I didn't do so because I'm not a responsible person (although he's the group leader and the most responsible person). And he started to talk about responsibilities and blame me saying that I'm not responsible. I was the one who did the most of the work, and even I was reminding them all how many days we've got left to complete the work although they didn't care about my sayings.

So through-out this story what I'm trying to expose is that Leadership means a huge role in any field. With leadership, people get more responsibilities that they should never forget. A great leader must guide and walk with their team or the group rather than pass commands to the group and wait till they complete it. No matter whether they win or lose, the leader should be able to accept both of them and always be with their fellow members. The behavior of the leader is what mostly affects the faith of the team/ group members. So we should never forget our responsibilities as a great leader.

Thank you...
